The UW Chapter of Justice for Palestine is hosting a two-part tribute to the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
On Thursday, April 23rd TITU at 7pm, Dr. Najat Rahman will give a lecture about the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish and the significance of his poetry. The lecture will be followed by a Question and Answer session.
On Friday, April 24th in the On Wisconsin Room in the Red Gym at 7:30pm, Dr. Najat Rahman will present another lecture on Darwish to be followed by music, poetry recitation in Arabic and English, UW poets reciting their writing, and a fantastic art exhibit from Palestine. Food reception will include Mediterranean food.
Dr. Najat Rahman is an assistant professor of comparative literature at the University of Montreal. She is the author of Literary Disinheritance: The Writing of Home in the Work of Mahmoud Darwish and Assia Djebar and an editor for Mahmoud Darwish, Exile’s Poet: Critical Essays.
